Apple may not have realized what they were starting when they first opened the doors to their iPhone App Store; however, as the flood of gadgets, games, and gizmos rushed out their digital doors, I think they now realize they have a certified cultural phenomenon on their hands.

500 Million downloads later (as of January 2009), the iPhone phenomenon is clearly red-hot and shows no sign of slowing down.

People seem to love their iPhones, and are willing to spend a buck or two (and sometime much more) to make it do cool tricks.

With a market this huge, internet marketers big and small have been salivating; how can they take advantage of this hungry crowd of rabid phone app downloaders?

Clearly, there is a lot of cash laying on the table here. A 9 year old boy from Singapore recently wrote a game for his 2 sisters that became a hot item in the App Store; another college student spent a few weeks and created a little game app called iShoot that shot to the top of the Apple App Store charts and netted him over $35,000 in one day.

Can you tap into this teeming mobile phone applications market and take a shot at the big bucks for yourself?

Until recently, the answer was probably “No.” But Author Simon Hodgkinson has changed all that.

His recent publication, “iStormer,” details exactly how to brainstorm an idea for your own phone app, outsource the programming without losing your shirt or dignity, negotiate the Apple legal landscape so you can feature your app in their store, and bring it to market and create your own tidal wave of downloads.

I should warn you that even though Simon’s downloadable ebook is very thorough and modestly priced, that pursuing the phone apps game is not for everyone; this is a REAL business venture, and not to be taken lightly.

You will have to invest at least several hundred dollars, and so this is not a project to undertaken unless you want to take a shot at big-time profits, and are willing to follow-through with some focused effort.

But for those with:

- Some programming experience, or
- A love of iPhones, or
- A love of computers or tech-y things, or
- Die hard marketers who recognize a tsunami of cash just waiting for them, well …

… Simon Hodgkinson’s iStormer phone app development and marketing guide could be just the ticket to an early retirement.
